Schools and Daycare Centers

Increasingly, teachers are called upon to use their relationships with children to promote well-being and a calm classroom. Social-emotional learning, inclusion of children with special needs, conflict resolution, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practice are now fundamental aspects of a teacher’s role. Yet teacher training focuses on curriculum and typical child development. Teachers, site directors, and principals rarely have the opportunity to discuss how to effectively engage with children who have difficulty engaging.

“Some children in my classroom seem to have a hard time just being at school. I’m skilled at classroom management, but my tools don’t really help them.”

“This child’s behavior makes no sense to me! I’d like to understand, but where to start?”

“My team and I have different ideas about how to respond to this child’s behavior. We need help getting on the same page.”

“I need to talk with a parent about something that’s worrying me, but I’m afraid he’ll get upset.”

I can help with questions like these.

After learning about your school, teaching experience, and goals, I put together a consultation plan based on your concerns and objectives. As a former preschool and elementary school teacher, I know what it’s like to teach a wide range of children. I’ll have the demands of your job in mind as we work together. You’ll get the most out of consultation when you share specific examples of your interactions with children and families.

I can help you with dilemmas such as:

  • Children who have difficulty getting along with peers

  • Delicate interactions with parents or team members

  • Children who don’t easily transition from one activity to the next.

  • How to use your observations of a child to develop effective strategies for him or her.

If you would like to learn more about my practice, I offer a free 30 minute consultation. I invite you to contact me online or call my office at +1 (415) 596-0293 to schedule a time for us to connect.
